Donkey Kong is a somewhat unorthodox character, but his main gimmick is his ability to grab a stone using his neutral special while on the ground. While DK is holding this stone, his mobility is decreased, but his attacks gain extra power and range. He cannot double jump while holding a stone. Instead, he can jump off it, leaving the falling stone as a projectile.

DKC is built for fast-paced gameplay, which is why I enjoy it the most. It lets you move quickly through levels, with only a few moments where you need to slow down and be careful. Compared to other games in the series, it feels easier to finish in one sitting.

The series is often loved for its jungle atmosphere, but its humor is underrated. Classic Rare games had a lot of comedy, from King K. Rool’s funny dialogues to character animations that added personality. Donkey Kong 64 pushed this even further with over-the-top silliness.
Donkey Kong Country Returns brought the series back to classic 2D gameplay after a long break. It felt like a fresh return to form, even if it didn’t stay as iconic as some other platformers.

Gameplay Experience
This is my first post in this community. I just wanted to share my experience.
Earlier this year, I bought my first Nintendo console, the Switch 2. I had been planning it for a long time, and I finally managed to buy it while studying at university. Along with Breath of the Wild, I also picked up Donkey Kong Bananza as one of my first Nintendo games (plus the Hades games).
So far, I’ve played around 10 hours of Bananza and completed the first layer. Honestly, it has been an amazing experience. The game feels very relaxing and fun to play. The smashing mechanics and level design feel fresh and creative, and everything is very enjoyable to explore.
This is my first Donkey Kong game, so I’m still new to the series, but I already like the characters and the world. I’m also curious to see how the story develops as I progress further.
The visuals and art style are really strong. I also find myself stopping to destroy everything in each area before moving on, which makes my progress slower—but I’m enjoying it a lot. I don’t regret buying either the Switch 2 or Bananza at all.
